Meet the Ambassadors

2021 Ambassadors

Amanda Cunningham

Santa to the Sea holds a special place for me because it is my home. My first Santa to the Sea was in 2012 and I've raced it every year since then, even pregnant with my second child. I train here in Oxnard, a running mom pushing both my boys. I've completed two marathons and 12 half marathons in my ten years of running. It is an honor and I'm excited to be a part of this amazing race that brings so much to our community and such a fun, festive race for all runners. You can find me on instagram @retrorunningmom for training and some views of the course.

Victor Hurtado

My name is Victor and I've lived in the 805 most of my life. I enjoy lifting weights, riding my mountain bike, but most of all I really enjoy running...A LOT! I've been part of Santa to the Sea race the last few years and can't wait for December's half marathon so I can have a great time and chase a PR:) Find me on Instagram @running_victor

I feel like I have been running my whole life, and that without it, my journey would have been a completely different one. Growing up in Escondido, CA, I found myself exploring distance running at Orange Glen High School, and literally found my happy place. While I loved running, I had not challenged myself beyond the random half marathon or 5K here and there. In 2017, I decided to throw a marathon on my schedule and the fire for distance running was reignited, and it's just compounded from there. Since 2017, I've run the Santa Clarita Marathon, Los Angeles Marathon and San Francisco Marathon and am currently training for the 2019 New York Marathon as part of Team ULTRA. My ultimate goal is to qualify for the Boston Marathon before I turn 40 in 2020, and keep adding races to the bucket list! I am so honored to be an ambassador for the 2019 Santa to the Sea! I was born and raised in Ventura County. Grew up in El Rio and currently living in Oxnard. Santa to the Sea was the first race I ever participated in. My wife suggested that we try it and in 2011 we did the relay. Since then I’ve done the race every year. It’s awesome to get to be a part of this major event for my hometown. Looking forward to inspiring others to join us for this awesome experience. Follow me on IG @gouki_cookie and feel free to contact me with any questions about the race or just running in general. See you at the start line!

I am excited to be returning to Santa to the Sea for the second year in a row! Since running my first ever race in 2015, the half marathon has become my favorite distance and Santa to the Sea’s flat, festive course has made it both my favorite event and my current PR (which I’m hoping to beat this year!). I am by no means a fast runner, but I don’t run for speed. I run for the challenge, the mental clarity, and the sense of freedom that only running can bring. On race day, you’ll find me somewhere in the middle of the pack – amongst other athletes of all sizes, ages, backgrounds, and paces. In the meantime, I’ll be sharing all aspects of my training -- from the pain of the weekly long run to the joy of crossing the finish line – with you on my Instagram: @runforcupcakes! Join me in Oxnard this December! Have questions or want to chat? Let me know!
